Human Trafficking Book Talk & Photography Presentation w/ National Geographic Documentarian
Award winning photojournalist, Smita Sharma, shares her documentary work on trafficking underage girls across India, Bangladesh and Nepal
Women Photojournalists of Washington and Lost Origins Gallery are honored to host (all the way from India!) photojournalist Smita Sharma who will discuss her award winning documentary work, recently published in the FotoEvidence book titled “We Cry In Silence”.
Smita Sharma spent seven years documenting trafficking of underage girls for sex and domestic servitude work in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. The work initialy appeared as an article titled “Stolen Lives” in the October 2020 issue of National Geographic Magazine globally and appeared as the cover story in India. Ms Sharma has been recognized for this work by an Amnesty International Media Award and Fetisov Journalism award.
