Staf Magazine

With nearly 30 years of documenting underground culture, STAF Magazine has become a key force within DIY subculture communities, both in Spain and globally. Originally launched as the Ball of Fury fanzine in 1995, it evolved into a magazine-collective that has published over 50 print issues, hosted numerous online pieces, and produced fanzines, books, records, exhibitions, and festivals.Despite early challenges and skepticism, STAF grew its readership beyond its hometown of Malaga, printing over 10,000 copies annually and reaching audiences in more than 70 countries.

The Lost Singles Collection – “These pieces were made as covers for the band One Cylinder. I’d never heard of them until I received a DM randomly on IG. “Your collages are great. Do you do record covers?” I answered, “I like doing record covers,” and we went on from there. They sent me three songs recorded onto a 4-track machine in the 2010s, and one on a laptop during the Covid lockdown. The songs were great and they had an interesting concept.  It went as follows:An album in the form of 24, 7” records. Two pieces of vinyl to be released every month for a year. That’s 24 covers. An ambitious task, with very little pay. Well, no pay it turns out. I made 25 pieces, 7”x7”, in just a few days. Then, One Cylinder vanished. The DMs went silent. Account closed. Ghosted. The project never saw the light of day, but the covers were done, so here’s an exhibit featuring them.” – Andy Jenkins
