Alejandro Jodorowsky's Psychedelic Masterpiece!
Please join us for the latest installment of our “Altered States” film series, hosted by Matthew Levin & Jason Hamacher. This month Levin has chosen the 1989 bizarre masterpiece, “Santa Sangre” by legendary Chilean filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky.
“Santa Sangre” is a surrealistic character study / slasher hybrid set in Carnival-esque Mexico City. Jodorowsky addresses themes of family trauma, religious cults, dismemberment, love, and mania: all thru his signature oddball humor and visual aplomb. This special screening will addiontionaly feature an introduction by “Santa Sangre” soundtrack composer, Simon Boswell.
As always, there will be an in-depth, post-film discussion, and a specail raffle to win a limited edition, autographed vinyl record of the Santa Sangre soundtrackll! Screenings are free to the public (RSVP required due to limited seating) and there will be food and drinks available. Donations always welcome to support the gallery.
